Centred. Silent. Connected.
THE STORY IN THE LAYERS
BEHIND THE TITLE OF " Centred. Silent. Connected."
While working on this painting I I kept thinking about the sense of connection between the mother and child. I saw it in the intimate pose and in the green circles behind the mother and the baby. I think true connection happens in silence when one feels centred, hence the title.
Definitions: centred: mentally and emotionally confident silent: unspoken connected: joined or linked together (Reference: merriam-webster.com/dictionary) |

Three large lime green circles made it's way into the painting.
I then remembered this image titled “Madonna” of a woodblock print by the Japanese artist Shuzo Ikeda (1922-2004).
It is such a beautiful pose of how the mother is holding the baby. I can just imagine what the mother is thinking and feeling. It seemed like a great match. I sketched it first, which was challenging with all the dark areas, then painted it in the last layer. |
